If you are in the 9th - 12th grades, are imaginative and want to make a difference, you are invited to participate in Dan David Prize High School Youth Competition and present your ideas for the candidates for the Dan David Prize.
The winning ideas will be reviewed by the Dan David Prize Board of Directors and the suggestions presented will be taken into consideration when selecting the fields for the given year.
The contest is conducted in three phases: the local chapter, state-level society, and national phases. Each year, the SAR receives an average of thirty state-level winners from around the country to compete in the national-level contest.
The contest must be entered through an SAR chapter near the student’s residence.
WHRO invites Kindergarten through 5th grade students to create a great story, illustrate it and enter it in our PBS KIDS Writers Contest!
This year, in addition to the original contest, we will present the Batten Environmental Education Award to winning stories with an Environmental theme or topic. Deadline for receipt of entries is Friday, March 29, 2019 at pm.I would like to say thank you for your wonderful contest.I can't tell you how excited this year's students were to submit their work.Winners and their families will be invited to a special reception and studio recording of the WHRO Young Storytellers awards program. We appreciate your help getting students involved with this fun and creative contest! The PBS KIDS Writers Contest is part of PBS KIDS Raising Readers and is funded in part by a Ready To Learn grant, in a cooperative agreement with the U. Department of Education and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The contents of these contest rules were developed under a grant, #PRU295B050003, from the Department of Education. However, those contents do not represent the policy of the Department of Education, and you should not assume endorsement by the Federal Government. The pride our students share is unbelievable when it comes to their writing. We do several different poetry exercises and projects throughout the year and I have found that the experience of working with your contest helps create extra student enthusiasm for their work and our various topics.Only one entry per student is permitted per contest year. A complete set of rules, along with the application for both the applicant and the sponsoring SAR members, can be found below.
